Course Description
The Champagne Specialist Program is an internationally recognised professional training course developed by the education department of Comité Champagne — the official body representing the growers and houses of Champagne.
Starting in March 2026, Norsk Vinfagskole proudly becomes Norway’s exclusive provider of this prestigious qualification.
The program is designed for sommeliers, wine professionals, educators, importers, journalists, and passionate enthusiasts who wish to gain a comprehensive and structured understanding of Champagne.
Over three intensive days, students will dive deep into the world of Champagne through lectures, guided tastings, workshops, and hands-on activities — combining science, craftsmanship, and sensory experience.

Pre-requisites
Before attending, participants are required to complete the free online Champagne MOOC, created by Comité Champagne.

This course is best suited for professionals or advanced students within the wine, hospitality, and beverage industries.
Examination and Certification
At the conclusion of the course, participants will take both a written and practical examination.
Successful candidates will be awarded the official Champagne Specialist Certificate issued by Comité Champagne — an internationally recognised mark of excellence.
If unsuccessful on the first attempt, a re-sit option is available for an additional fee.

Magnus is a sommelier, entrepreneur, and wine educator with a passion for bringing knowledge to life. His background includes leading roles at top restaurants such as Statholdergaarden and Maaemo, and he co-founded Territoriet – one of Oslo’s most influential wine bars. Educated at Lycée Hôtelier R.M. in Metz with five professional certificates in food and beverage, he was among the first to complete Norway’s highest formal wine education. Today, he serves as Managing Director and Academic Director for all programs at Norsk Vinfagskole, and heads the school’s Champagne Specialist Program in collaboration with Comité Champagne.
Magnus was named Norway’s Best Young Sommelier in 2012, and is the country’s first and only Certified Champagne Specialist – a teacher who combines deep technical insight with genuine love for the craft.

Champagnes historie og utvikling
Hvordan ble Champagne det mest prestisjefylte vinområdet i verden? Vi dykker ned i tradisjoner, revolusjoner og nøkkelfigurer.
2. kveld – 4. november
Områdene og stilene
Côte des Blancs, Vallée de la Marne, Montagne de Reims – hva kjennetegner de ulike områdene, og hvordan påvirker de vinen? Hva er forskjellen på blanc de blancs, blanc de noirs og rosé?
3. kveld – 11. november
Kvalitet, produsenter og pris
Vi smaker Champagne i ulike prisklasser og fra både små produsenter og store hus. Kan man smake forskjell på pris og kvalitet? Merete viser vei.

Merete Bø er journalist og vinanmelder i Dagens Næringsliv. Hun er utdannet sommelier, har vunnet både norske og nordiske mesterskap for vinkelnere, og er kjent for podkasten Jeg kan ingenting om vin.
